Getting started
Do I need an account to use Bullio?
No. Bullio requires no account — your portfolio is stored on your device.
Which metals does Bullio track?
Gold, silver, platinum, and palladium. Physical holdings only — no ETFs, no mining stocks.
Which currencies are supported?
AUD (default), USD, EUR, GBP, NZD, and CAD.
Can I see how many coins or bars I own — not just the weight?
Yes. For coins, bars, and numismatic pieces, Bullio shows your total unit count alongside the weight — both the total you own and how many were in each purchase. Available on every tier.
Pricing and tracking
How often do spot prices update?
Free tier: prices refresh every 15 minutes, with manual refresh available. Premium: approximately every 1 minute.
Where do spot prices come from?
Bullio fetches prices from Metals.Dev, cached on our backend in Sydney. The backend serves all four metals across six currencies. Your app requests prices using only your currency preference — no portfolio data is sent.
Are the prices accurate?
Prices are sourced from Metals.Dev and reflect market spot rates with a short delay. They are for informational and tracking purposes only, not for trading decisions.
Data and privacy
Where is my portfolio data stored?
On your device, in a local SQLite database. Bullio's servers never receive your holdings, transactions, or portfolio values.
What does Bullio's server actually receive?
When you request a price update: your preferred currency and the metals you're tracking. When you purchase premium: an anonymous device identifier and your App Store or Play Store purchase receipt. That is all.
Can I back up my data?
Yes. Settings → Backup creates an encrypted backup file and saves it to iCloud Drive (iOS) or Google Drive (Android). The file is encrypted on your device before it leaves — Bullio's servers are not involved and cannot read the contents. You set a passphrase when you create the backup; that passphrase is the only thing that can decrypt it.
What happens to my data if I delete the app?
The local database is deleted with the app. If you made a backup, that file remains in your iCloud Drive or Google Drive. Export a CSV first if you want a portable copy.
Can I export my data?
Yes. Settings → Export → CSV. This is always free, on every version, forever.
Premium and payments
What does Premium include?
Real-time (~1-minute) spot pricing, AI Import (snap a photo and let AI pre-fill a new holding for you to review), unlimited price alerts (target price, % change, and break-even), preset autofill from 1,900+ verified products, What-If price scenarios, Sales & realised-gains analytics with tax/CGT report export (AU, US, UK, CA, DE), and unlimited photos per holding. Multiple portfolios is in development.
What is AI Import?
A Premium feature that turns a photo into a draft holding. Snap a picture of a coin, bar, or receipt, and AI reads the product details and pre-fills a new holding — matched against Bullio's own verified preset catalogue for weight and purity — for you to review and save. The photo is sent securely to our AI provider to be read; it isn't stored by our backend, and only the single photo you choose is ever sent.
What is the Founders' Lifetime plan?
A one-time purchase that includes everything in Premium, now and permanently, including all future Premium features — at $99, a limited early-adopter price (regular Lifetime is $149). Once Founders pricing ends, new lifetime purchases move to the regular price.
What happens to my data if I cancel Premium?
Your holdings, transactions, and history are fully preserved. Premium features become inaccessible until you resubscribe, but nothing is deleted.
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
Through your App Store or Google Play account settings. Bullio does not process payments directly.
Technical
Does Bullio work offline?
Yes, fully. The app reads and writes your local database without any network connection. Prices will show the last cached value until network is available.
What iOS and Android versions are supported?
Bullio runs on recent versions of iOS and Android. The exact minimum versions are listed on the App Store and Google Play product pages.
